NEWSVERSE is a mobile news network that helps create regional networks of citizen journalists in emerging economies. It a reputation-based social network system that seamlessly works with both mobile and web and would allows the wider masses a easy and convenient interface to produce news about issues that matter while allowing the network to identify and grow a base of citizen reporters. We are working together on this with one of our collaborators, an University of London (SOAS) based research collective/centre SACREDMEDIACOW, and are currently in the prototyping phase. PERSIANSPEAKINGWORLD.ORG: We are currently developing the web strategy for a collaborative website/blog for key figures from the media and film industries in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. This website will be based on the conference “Communicating with the Persian-speaking World” that was held in June in London. where some of the top journalists, TV and radio producers, bloggers and film directors got together to discuss issues around the shared concerns of media professions. SACREDMEDIACOW: We designed and executed the web strategy and branding for the University of London-based research centre/collective, Sacredmediacow. The key activity of the collective for a website and a collective blog where research and other issues dealing with the South Asian media were discussed and debated, including more than 20 contributors from media professionals to film makers to academics. The site is now widely-known amongst media professional and academics in India and the UK. Visit Sacredmediacow HERE.
VARRIO NATURE DIARY: We designed and executed a simple web strategy for the of the Varrio Subartic Research Station of University of Helsinki located in the remote Northeastern Finland. The blog in now among one of the most read websites in this rather remote and rarely-populated part of Europe and has been focus of considerable media attention, including two radio interviews, bringing publicity to otherwise sometimes rather obscure academic activity and research. He is currently dayjobbing as a Teaching Fellow in Digital Culture at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London and spends time shuttling between London, Helsinki and the rest of the world.
